JKKN research spans — clinical dentistry and oral health, pharmaceutical sciences and drug analysis, nursing education and patient care, AI for healthcare applications, Tamil natural language processing, agricultural AI, textile innovations, biomedical engineering, pharmacology, and rural healthcare delivery models. Research clusters are anchored in 8 dedicated centres of excellence funded by institutional and external grants.
JKKN faculty publish 200+ peer-reviewed papers annually across Scopus-indexed, Web of Science, UGC CARE and PubMed journals. Publications span all 7 colleges — clinical research from dentistry and nursing, pharmaceutical analysis, engineering applied research, and social science research from arts and management programs. Annual research bulletin is published by the IQAC.

JKKN has received active grants from Department of Science & Technology (DST), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), AICTE Research Promotion Scheme, CSIR, and industry partners including Foxconn, Apollo Hospitals, Lakshmi Machine Works, and pharmaceutical companies. Total active grant value exceeds INR 8 crore across faculty-led projects.
Absolutely. JKKN runs a formal Undergraduate Research Program where students from year 2 onwards can join faculty-led research groups. Students co-author papers, attend international conferences with travel grants, and contribute to patent applications. Over 60 UG students have published papers in the last 3 years, many in Scopus-indexed journals before graduation.
Yes. JKKN has filed 15+ patents in the last 3 years covering — AI-assisted dental diagnostics, novel pharmaceutical formulations, medical device innovations, AI models for Tamil language processing, and textile machinery improvements. Student-led patents receive full JKKN legal support, and patent inventors share in commercialisation revenues under a formal IPR policy.
