On May 12, 2023, at 11am, a program was conducted at the Sresakthimayeil Institute of Nursing and Research in Komarapalayam to celebrate International Nurses Day. The program began with a prayer song, followed by a speech which was given by the Principal, Mrs.R.Jamunarani, M.Sc., Ph.D., in honor of Nurse Day celebration. The Chief Guest, Mrs. Manimekalai, RN, RM, the Nursing Superintendent –Grade 1, Government Head Quarters Hospital, Erode, delivered an insightful speech the importance of nursing and the role of a nurse. The students then participated in various programs, including speeches and dances. The program concluded with a vote of thanks which was given by Ms. Subhashini, a B.Sc. – III-year student, and the singing of the national anthem.
Learning outcome:
Increased understanding of the history and significance of nursing as a profession. Enhanced awareness of the role of a nurse in the healthcare system and in promoting public health. Improved knowledge of cultural and artistic expressions related to nursing and healthcare. Overall, this program could have helped students to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the nursing profession and its role in society, while also providing an opportunity to develop skills and talents through cultural activities and performances.
