On July 22, 2023, at 10:30 am, the Sresakthimayeil Institute of Nursing and Research, Kumarapalayam, conducted an event focusing on the history of the Kalingarayan Anaicut and it’s canal. The program commenced with a prayer song, and it was inaugurated by Mrs. R.Jamunarani, M.Sc., Ph.D., the principal of the institute. The chief guest of the event was Mr. N. Raveendran, a Nature Educator, founder, and president of the Iragukal Amritha Nature Trust (I-ANT). During the event, Mr. N. Raveendran delivered a speech, providing detailed information about the Kalingarayan Anaicut and its canal history. The speech highlighted various aspects of the anaicut, including its construction, purpose, and significance. The chief guest shed light on the engineering marvel of the anaicut, which has been a vital water management structure in the region for several years. He also emphasized the historical importance of the canal, discussing its role in irrigation and agric. Students gained valuable insights into the rich history of Kalingarayan Aniacut and its canal.
